Amadeus Youth Choir
Visual identity for a young choral ensemble from Mostar

Overview
Zbor mladih Amadeus is a youth choir based in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina. With an active performance schedule and a growing presence in the regional cultural scene, the choir needed a complete visual identity — one that felt modern and fresh enough to appeal to a younger audience, while still carrying the elegance and gravity that choral music demands.
The project covered everything: logo design, color system, typography, and a full set of brand applications — from concert posters and roll-up banners to social media templates, stationery, and embroidered merchandise. The goal was a coherent visual language that would hold up consistently across every touchpoint, on stage and off.
Approach
The first decision was the most important one: what visual metaphor could represent this choir without falling into the obvious traps? Musical notes, treble clefs, silhouettes of singers — all were ruled out immediately. The answer came from the name itself.
The logo is built around a bird — a dove-like figure — whose spread wings naturally form the letters A and D, the initials of Amadeus. Rather than placing a symbol next to the wordmark, the bird is embedded within it, replacing the central characters of the name. The result is a wordmark where meaning and form are inseparable: you read the name and see the bird simultaneously.
The letterforms were drawn to match the symbol's character — semi-serif, with gentle curves and moderate stroke contrast. Elegant without being stiff, modern without losing the classical undertone appropriate for a choral ensemble. The overall impression is one of harmony, both visually and as a direct reference to what the choir does.
Logo variants were developed for every real-world scenario: primary color on white, negative (white on blue), monochromatic, and monochromatic negative — ensuring the mark works regardless of background, printing technique, or medium. The stamp version and embroidery guidelines were included specifically for merchandise, where the logo needed to translate into a single-color physical form.
Outcome
The choir now has a visual identity that performs consistently across all formats — from the embroidered logo on a polo shirt seen up close to a concert poster viewed from across the street. The bird-within-the-name construction has proven to be immediately recognizable and scalable: it works as a large display mark, as a small standalone icon on social media, and everywhere in between.
Most importantly, it looks like them — young, alive, and rooted in something that matters.
